Barrier-Free Information
Abashiri Prison Museum is promoting universal access throughout the facility.
Improvements such as entrance ramps and universally designed restrooms have been implemented. However, some areas of the relocated and restored historic prison buildings cannot be made barrier-free in order to preserve their architectural characteristics.
In addition, the museum grounds are located on a sloped site within Abashiri Quasi-National Park, and some pathways have inclines due to limited large-scale land modification.

For further details, please contact us before your visit.
Wheelchairs are available for use inside the museum. Four parking spaces for wheelchair users are provided in the second parking lot.
Handrails and other measures are being installed gradually on pathways with steep slopes.
Guide dogs, assistance dogs, and hearing dogs are welcome.
