A foundation Abashiri prison preservation foundation was established in the 55th year of Showa,
and it was open in July, the 58th year of Showa.
After Abashiri prison is established, it has been said that it aimed at handling the prisoners
of the prison for the "Hokkaido central road repairing" to advance Hokkaido reclamation
for 117 years.
Our palace makes that it has everyone know the truth of the history of the lever, too,
through opening to the public of the prison old building a goal.
